How to copy Master projects with two and more levels of nested Subprojects

In this article, we will review the case when it is required to migrate Master projects with two and more levels of nested Subprojects.

G.A. Suite supports only second-level hierarchy (Master Project + Subproject) and does not support more complex hierarchy, such as Master Project + Master Project + Subprojects.

However, there is a workaround to copy Master projects with two and more levels of nested Subprojects.

It is required to perform such migration in steps - upload each level of hierarchy separately, starting from the lowest. The steps of such migration are the following:

a) First, it is required to upload subprojects of the lowest level. Open the Change Management => Copy page and click on the Copy Now button.

Click on the pencil-like button next to the Project Plans section and check the Selected checkbox.

Click on the number link to open the Project Plans window.

Select the subproject(s) of the lowest level and click the Add Selected button.

Click Save. Select the Target location, and click the Copy Now button.

Allow some time for the project(s) to be uploaded.

b) After that upload the project(s) of the second (higher) level.

Perform the same steps, described above, selecting the required project(s) of the second level. Allow G.A. Suite some time to complete the copying operation.

c) Finally, upload the Master project of the first level.

Open the Copy page => Copy Now => Project Plans => Selected => Select the Master project of the highest level and click Add Selected.

Click Save => provide all the required information as for the credentials and target location => click Copy Now.

Allow G.A. Suite some time to complete the copying operation.
